A Creek, a Shadow, and the Candle Face Mystery

A Creek, a Shadow, and the Candle Face Mystery
The Creek (2010)

December 1, 2023

I recently had a brief interview with someone who claims to believe in Candle Face. It didn’t last long—things got tense when I asked about the contradiction between describing Candle Face as “compassionate” and saying she harms people who don’t believe in her. My questions seemed to annoy Mr. Smoe, and the interview ended sooner than I expected. I did record the interview, but I promised to let him review it before sharing it anywhere. So far, I haven’t heard back from him.

Afterward, I needed to clear my head. I decided to walk to the creek near my old childhood home. It’s a tricky spot with steep cliffs and rugged trails, but as kids, we loved it. We’d spend hours there playing games like hide-and-seek and capture the flag. I filmed some of the area and plan to share the footage along with the interview—if and when I get Mr. Smoe’s approval.

Later in the day, I stopped by a friend’s place in Southeast Austin. We ended up talking about the interview and the dreams I’ve been having—dreams that make me think Candle Face’s victims might actually be reaching out to me. While we were chatting, something strange happened. His Ring doorbell camera picked up a large, dark shadow on the porch and an odd orb, even though no one was there.

My friend thinks the interview might have stirred up Candle Face, especially since we both know how dangerous her legend is from childhood.

I’ll share the interview, the footage from my trip to the creek, and the porch video as soon as I get permission. It’s been a strange few days, and it doesn’t seem like things will calm down anytime soon.
