The Death of Mr. Smoe

January 12, 2025

Earlier today, I received a call from Mr. Smoe’s phone. At first, I was excited—here was the man who had accused me of being a fraud and a liar for spreading disinformation about Candle Face. But instead of Mr. Smoe, it was his younger brother on the other end of the line. He didn’t give his name, so I’ll simply call him Mr. Smoe’s brother.

He wasted no time. “Your friend was found dead in his home,” he said, using Mr. Smoe’s real name. When I asked how he died, he didn’t know, and disturbingly, he didn’t seem to care. His detached tone disturbed me—how could someone speak so casually about their brother’s death? Then came the bizarre question: “Do you want to claim the body?” I said no immediately, stunned by the request. He mentioned that none of the relatives wanted the body either.

Our three-minute conversation ended with an invitation to visit his brother’s house to go through some boxes he thought I might find interesting. I didn’t ask what was in the boxes, but my gut said they had something to do with Candle Face. The idea of going to his house again felt odd—not just because of the strangeness of the invitation, but because of the potential dangers tied to Candle Face. I told him I’d contact him in a few days with a date, wanting time to consider whether this visit was even a good idea.

In a few hours, I’m heading to Cyclone Anaya’s Tex-Mex Kitchen in Houston for a meeting with Aaron and the GenX Paranormal Investigations team. With everything happening, I need Aaron’s perspective now more than ever. They’ve been invaluable as I try to navigate the tangled web of Candle Face and her lost souls. Aaron and his team, who specialize in spirit harvesting, seem eager to warn me about my plan to spread the fugitives across the country. I’m just as eager to hear what they have to say.
